MANPADS (Man-Portable Air-Defense Systems) training session

As part of the second phase of the project to develop the corrective action plan to mitigate the risks of attacks with MANPADS (Man-Portable Air-Defense Systems) or small arms and light weapons against civil aviation, identified in the airport areas of Nsimalen in 2022, a training session on MANPADS began this Monday, May 27, 2024 at the CCAA Training School.
This session, led by two experts from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) of the French Republic, welcomes sixteen (16) participants mandated by the police, the gendarmerie, the ADC, the ASECNA and the CCAA.
At the end of this five-day training, the participants, in addition to gaining in-depth knowledge of the terrain, will become familiar with different types of MANPADS and infantry weapons. They will thus be able to:
– respond effectively to information provided by other departments;
– disseminate reflex sheets on threat detection;
– ensure the effective reporting of intelligence by ensuring its appropriate dissemination.
This initiative aims to strengthen security in airport areas and ensure a coordinated and effective response to potential threats.
